CEEPUS scholarship holders can find the latest rules related to entering or exiting Hungary during the coronavirus pandemic on this website. The information is being updated continuously on this webpage.

Please follow the official rules and regulations related to entering or exiting Hungary and make sure to be informed of the latest rules during your application procedure and before your planned travel.

Information for CEEPUS schlarship holders travelling abroad from Hungary

You can follow the latest recommendations on travelling abroad in Hungarian language on the website of the Hungarian Consular Service. Outgoing mobilities - at one’s own risk - can currently be realized to the CEEPUS countries listed there: Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Please study and follow the rules below:

  • Outgoing scholarship holders must comply with the latest entry conditions and rules of the host country. It is the responsibility of each traveler to have up-to-date information on these.
  • It is recommended to use the latest information for each country provided by the Consular Service in Hungarian.
  • With an EU Digital COVID Certificate under 'Regulation (EU) 2021/953 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 June 2021 on a framework for the issuance, verification and acceptance of interoperable COVID-19 vaccination, test and recovery certificates (EU Digital COVID Certificate) to facilitate free movement during the COVID-19 pandemic' EU countries can be visited without epidemiological restrictions if the criteria described in the above mentioned Regulation are met.
  • After the mobility, Hungarian entry rules must be followed by those returning to Hungary.
  • Forms of virtual or hybrid (partly physical and partly online) mobility shall be consulted with the host National CEEPUS Office (NCO). This practice may vary from country to country: currently Croatia, the Czech Republic, Montenegro and Poland offer scholarship for virtual or hybrid and Serbia offers scholarship for hybrid mobilities.
  • Before your travel please consult your host institution about their readiness to host you.
  • If the mobility cannot be realized under the current circumstances, please consult your host coordinator about postponement and try to reschedule your mobility. The host NCO must also be informed.
  • Contact details of NCO’s can be found on the website of the Central CEEPUS Office under country data.

Information for CEEPUS schlarship holders travelling to Hungary

Currently, Hungary can be visited without any epidemiological restrictions regardless of citizenship or protection against the coronavirus but other general conditions of entry (e.g. a valid travel document) must be provided.

Further information for incoming scholarship holders

  • Before your travel please consult your host institution about their readiness to host you.
  • Incoming CEEPUS students are eligible for the full grant in case of online activities during the pandemic situation,
    • provided that the physical mobility is realized (the student actually travelled to Hungary),
    • but the activities can be carried out only or partly online due to restrictions arising from the epidemic situation.
The principle that incoming scholarship holders are eligible for the full grant only for the period actually spent in Hungary is valid in these cases, too.
  • Closing of the mobility in case of (partly) virtual mobilities is in the usual way, that is, the scholarship holder first fills in the Mobility Report and then the Letter of Confirmation is issued by the host institution and both documents need to be signed and stamped by the host and uploaded to www.ceepus.info. The Letter of Confirmation shall be issued according to the exchange type (physical, virtual or hybrid).
  • Incoming mobilities of the Academic Year 2020/2021 can be postponed if necessary, upon agreement with the host coordinator. Please inform the National CEEPUS Office Hungary in case of any change in the mobility period or in the exchange type.
  • Incoming mobilities of the Academic Year 2021/2022 can be postponed if necessary, upon agreement with the host coordinator. Please inform the National CEEPUS Office Hungary in case of any change in the mobility period or in the exchange type.
  • Incoming scholarship holders may submit a force majeure request - if applicable - via https://vismaior.tka.hu website to ask for the reimbursement of their extra costs related to the CEEPUS mobility and incurred due to the coronavirus pandemic. Please follow the guides below in order to get a clear picture of the possible steps and solutions you can take.

Should you need any further assistance please contact the National CEEPUS Office Hungary at ceepus(@)tpf.hu.

We wish you all the best for the accomplishment of your scholarships.
